An update from our open meeting in February

We had a lovely Open Meeting earlier this week. There was a good turnout via Zoom, so thank you to everyone who came along.

For those of you who couldn’t attend we discussed a number of areas including:
  • The Places to Ride bid for £500,000 was submitted to British Cycling by Sheffield City Council. This bid aims to create an Active Country Park for walkers and runners not just cyclists - we should hear more at the end of March.
  • Viridor’s application for planning permission for the landfill drainage, which did not take account of the need to improve amenity by providing a wetland area. We understand the Council are not happy with Viridor’s proposal and will be discussing changes with them.
  • The plans for improving the footpath from Herries Road to Clubmill Road to close a gap in the Upper Don Trail. We joined many other groups and individuals in supporting the proposals.
  • The latest updates on Extreme’s development of the former ski village. They have reiterated their commitment to the project. We hope to see a planning application in the next four months, which will require us to scrutinise the detail very carefully.
If you have any comments on any of the issues above then please do contact us.

We will be looking to host our annual AGM on Wednesday 9th June.
